When I was a kid, our elementary-school fashion sense was largely determined by the number and variety of bracelets covering our wrists and forearms. We made friendship bracelets, bought those crazy slap-on bracelets, and came up with different ways to intertwine the solid black rubber bracelets with clear glittery ones.
Long gone are those innocent days of '80s jewelry.
Since today's 7- and 8-year-olds are flashing Tiffany bracelets while talking on their cell phones, the Children's Cupcake Multicolor Bracelet ($16.99) from Target must be aimed at younger kids. Pastel cupcakes sprinkled with a trio of sparkling rhinestones and strung together on a silver bracelet could probably still thrill a 6-year-old. A 6.5-year-old, on the other hand, wouldn't tolerate it for a second.
